The people who come to Joao's healing sanctuary, the Casa de Dom Inacio, represent all faiths, and all cultures. Travelers from the USA, Australia, New Zealand, Europe, Japan, South Africa, Iran, Russia and Canada assemble alongside Brazilians to consult this famous healing medium.
Visiting doctors, trained in conventional medicine, are invited to stand near John as he does surgery, take photographs, and sometimes assist in the healings.
The Casa's patron saint is St Ignatius, the man who started the Jesuit faith. However, Christian prayers are repeated alongside prayers from other faiths. The work is a community effort. There are over 250 people, all mediums, who volunteer their services to support John of God. All of these people offer their compassion and kindness to all coming to the Casa, making it a welcoming and safe place to visit for people of all faiths.
John of God and the community of the Casa are living demonstrations of spiritual healing and ecumenism in a most dramatic form. If you are a health professional, witnessing the healing work at the Casa will open your mind to perceive new possibilities in healing and health maintenance. It may well inspire you--breathing new life into what it means to be a health practitioner, renewing both your energy and your dreams. If you are ill and seeking healing, the Casa is sure to facilitate you in your journey toward healing—bringing you closer to your innermost spiritual strength and guidance.
